I did this trip without much planning in the summer of 2004. I didn't plan to do a cross country, just started in Seattle and wondered where I would end. Do this trip West to East. Basically it is two weeks hills, two weeks prairie and then two weeks woods and lakes, with a final 5 days or so thrown in for Montreal - NY. I marked the road as good as I remember, but when drawing the route through towns I probably messed up big time, redrawing a route I did over 4 years ago is not easy. I went south of Lake Superior as the roads there should be less hilly and have more shoulder as the Canadian alternative. Ontario was my least favourite part of this trip. The prairie isn't that bad as people say (when not riding against the wind).
