This is a very hilly route from Morganton to the west.  Careful planning is required before touring on the Blue Ridge Parkway, as services are spaced rather far apart and camping is permitted only in designated campgrounds.

Oct 2009 -- The BRP is closed from mile post 393.6 at the French Broad River junction to mile post 405.5 near the Pisgah Campground Country Store

Sept 2009 -- Construction work continues on the BRP between Mt Mitchell St Park and Asheville, reducing the road to a single lane at times.
